Fulham
& Craven Cottage

Few football grounds anywhere in Europe possess the charm and character of Craven Cottage. Home to Fulham FC, the stadium sits beside the River Thames and is surrounded by leafy parkland. The walk to the ground, often through Bishop’s Park along the riverside, is one of the most picturesque approaches to a football stadium in England.

Watching Fulham play offers a glimpse of football tradition that feels increasingly rare in the modern game.

Chapter 01

Craven Cottage

Craven Cottage has served as Fulham’s home since 1896. The site originally contained a small hunting lodge known as “Craven Cottage”, from which the stadium takes its name.

Over time, the ground evolved into one of England’s most distinctive football venues. The famous Johnny Haynes Stand, designed by renowned stadium architect Archibald Leitch (the man also responsible for Old Trafford), remains one of the finest surviving examples of early twentieth-century football architecture.

Unlike many modern stadiums built on the outskirts of cities, Craven Cottage sits comfortably within its surroundings. The River Thames flows just beyond one side of the stadium, while Bishop’s Park lies immediately beside the ground.

The stadium has hosted many memorable moments in Fulham’s history, including the club’s remarkable run to the 2010 UEFA Europa League Final under manager Roy Hodgson.

Despite modern upgrades, Craven Cottage retains much of its historic charm, making it one of the most beloved stadiums in English football

The Riverside Stand redevelopment, completed in 2024, has added rooftop hospitality, a swimming pool and uninterrupted views over the Thames. The new stand transformed Craven Cottage from a charming throwback into a 21st-century football venue while preserving the original Stevenage Road Stand and the Cottage pavilion itself.

Chapter 02

Instead of vast arenas and commercial complexes, the experience revolves around riverside walks, neighbourhood pubs and a stadium that feels part of the local community.
