Premier League GW3 Round Up & GW4 Preview
Premier League GW3 Round Up & GW4 Preview

The cut and thrust of the Premier League was evident once again in game week 3, with thrills and spills at both ends of the table. Manchester City remain the only side in the division with a 100% winning record, giving the table a rather familiar look but with the likes of West Ham, Tottenham, and Brentford also unbeaten, there is plenty of scope for some of the fringe sides moving forwards.

At the bottom of the pile, promoted sides Sheffield United, Luton Town and Burnley remain without a point to their name, as do Everton, who look to be in a relegation scrap again under the stewardship of Sean Dyche.

2023/24 Premier League GW3 Recap:

Chelsea 3 – 0 Luton Town
Having only picked up a point in their first two games, Chelsea needed a handsome home win and got just that over Luton on Friday night. Raheem Sterling looked back to his best, netting twice, and assisting Nicholas Jackson for a comprehensive triumph at Stamford Bridge.

Bournemouth 0 – 2 Tottenham
Spurs continued their unbeaten start under Ange Postecoglou, cruising to a 2-0 win on the road at Bournemouth. James Maddison’s first for the club, along with a Dejan Kulusevski proved enough to give Spurs three more points.

Arsenal 2 – 2 Fulham
Arsenal dropped points for the first time this term, drawing at home to Fulham. The visitors went ahead through Andreas Pereira, only for second half strikes from Bukayo Saka and Eddie Nketiah to put Arsenal in front. However, Joao Palhinha levelled late on for the plucky Cottagers.

Brentford 1 – 1 Crystal Palace
Two London rivals played out an entertaining draw in West London as Brentford drew with Crystal Palace. The Bees went ahead through Kevin Shade, only for Joachim Andersen to reply for the Eagles in the second half.

Everton 0 – 1 Wolves
Everton’s troubles continued, as they succumbed to a late home loss to Wolves. Both sides had no points coming into the game and a draw looked on the cards before substitute Sasa Kalajdzic pinched the points for the visitors in the dying embers.

Brighton 1 – 3 West Ham United
West Ham’s unbeaten start to the season continued, with a smash and grab win at Brighton. Counter attacking strikes from James Ward Prowse, Jarred Bowen and Mikhail Antonio sealed the points for the Hammers, with Pascal Gross grabbing a consolation late on for Brighton.

Burnley 1 – 3 Aston Villa
Unai Emery’s Aston Villa were in raucous form, as they humbled Burnley at Turf Moor. The damage was done in the first half, as Matty Cash bagged a brace for the Villains, only for Lyle Foster to reply for Burnley before Moussa Diaby put the game beyond doubt for Villa.

Sheffield United 1 – 2 Manchester City
Champions Manchester City were given a scare at Sheffield United. Erling Haaland opened the scoring, after missing a penalty, with Jayden Bogle hitting back for the Blades, with Rodri’s late rocket enough to bag the points for City.

Manchester United 3 – 2 Nottingham Forest
Manchester United had to do it the hard way against Nottingham Forest. Forest were 2-0 up inside 5 minutes thanks to Taiwo Awoniyi and Willy Boly but United fought back and eventually came through as victors, with Christian Eriksen, Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes grabbing the goals.

Newcastle United 1 – 2 Liverpool
10-man Liverpool came back from the dead against Newcastle, to seal all three points. The reds looked dead and buried as Anthony Gordon opened the scoring for Toon and Virgil van Dijk was sent off, but substitute Darwin Nunez bagged a stunning late brace to win it in dramatic fashion.
